Apple Killing Atom Compatibility - Hackintosh Woes
With the upcoming release of Apple's Mac OS X 10.6.2 update, there have been reports that it will break compatibility for the Intel Atom processor which is very common in low-cost PC netbooks. This is very disturbing for the growing number of netbook hackintosh enthusiasts (myself included).
It has yet to be seen whether or not these compatibility problems are an arbitrary crippling by Apple or if there are real performance changes that make the Atom no longer a viable vanilla processor. The Atom, by nature, is a low-cost but relatively capable 32-bit processor. With Snow Leopard, Apple is moving toward a new 64-bit foundation while maintaining 32-bit compatibility. And since no Apple hardware that uses the Atom, I is still in question whether this is intentional or collateral damage. In and case it should not slow down the hackintosh community that much, since running OS X on unsupported processors has already been overcome in the past (AMD pwned). Although it is interesting either way because this is consistent with Apple's handling of third-party hardware support (e.g. Psystar). However the intentions behind this compatibility change my shed some light on some of the new infrastructure enhancements and new developmental directions in OS X Snow Leopard.Comments [0]

Browser Bug Bulletin - Flash Bug on Snow Leopard 10.6.1

I encountered a bug in Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard that can cripple your browsers by causing them to crash every time you attempt to load a page some heavy Flash content like video (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) or audio (Pandora, Last.fm, etc.).
This is a very sad because as we all know, without Flash, the Internet becomes a much more boring place...From what I have uncovered, the bug is intermittent and presents with the most up-to-date versions of Flash, FireFox, and Safari. However, I have traced the root of the problem to Flash installation prior to the Apple 10.6.1 update. SolutionStep 1) Uninstall Flash Player using the Adobe tool here.Step 2) Reapply the Apple 10.6.1 Update located here. Step3) Reinstall Flash located here.Hope this helps everyone, and remember that FireFox users should also use the NoScript Extension for a faster, more secure, and stable browsing experience.Comments [0]
Ultimate Web 2.0 Synergy - A LOL Moment
I took a minute to integrate all my web services I subscribe to so that I can easily post and propagate content to all my little corners of the web. It took a little effort from all ends and when I was done I was left kinda confused as to how it will really work. In practice for far it seems fine but when I put pen to paper and looked at the relationships I established, my eyes began to cross. Check it out.
